Family Fridays

I love Fridays here in our house! It's always Jason's day off from the church and it is often spent doing fun family things. This morning Jason is going to take Judah to play trains and Barnes & Noble and then go look at cars. Fun boy stuff, Judah will totally enjoy it! I'm taking Jocelyn to visit a new friend I met at Creekside named Sue. I'm really excited as i learned she is a PK too so i'm sure we'll have tons and tons to talk about!

Going to meet with Sue, i'm reminded of a prayer i prayed a few years back. My best friend Carley moved to California and i started feeling really lonley for good friends here that knew me really well. I'm 27, and often by this age many people already have their group of friend established. I have a lot of friends, but not many really close friends. I was struggleing finding friends that i could really share my heart, struggles, and everyday thoughts with. I prayed that God would send someone into my life that i could share all those things with and find a good heart to heart connection with.

Alyssa and i have known each other since college, and she goes to the Creekside Church as well. Even though we've been friends for 10 years, over the past 2 years we have become very close. She is such a dear friend and an answer to prayer in my life. I can trust her with my thoughts and feelings about church, work, kids, and anything that comes up. She is a very dear friend and a total answer to prayer!

That being said i really felt like God was calling me to be a friend to others. I, like others, can get stuck in my ways and with the friends i have. there are so many people out there looking for a friend to talk with and share life with. I have heard some relatives and other friends say that is takes to much energy to make new friends. I have felt like that. I realized though, that Jesus called us to be like him, so knowing that, we shouldn't stay to ourselves. Sometimes being a friend is hard, and does take work at the beginning. But in the end it's so worth it!

So open your "group" of friends and share your heart with someone new! Many people need friends. Just because you have a group that has been together since high school, doesn't mean you can't open your doors to a waiting heart! Share your life, you'll be blessed for it! You never know when you'll be the one in need of a new friend! Sow your seeds.
