Check up

I took Judah to his check up this past week since he turned 4. The nurse said he was square, with a giggle. He was 40 1/2 pounds and 40 1/2 inches tall. Pretty funny. She said they are usually close but not exact!
During Judah's exam there was a sweet moment between us. He was being a "pirate". He had to cover one eye with a patch to read the chart full of different symbols. He was doing so well until the last row. The nurse pointed to a half moon (which i know he doesn't know what to call that), and Judah just stood there for a moment. He sweetly put his head to one side and rested it on his shoudler. He then looked at me with a sweet, nervous voice and said "mommy, i don't know what that is." I quickly kneeled by his side and said "it's ok sweetie, we'll try a different shape."

It was that moment i felt so blessed!!

So Blessed to be the one that could come up along side of him and walk him through, at that moment, what he thought was so difficult. He was nervous, had a trembling voice, and was unsure, but i got to stand next to him and remind him that he is not alone. I am here.

Such a sweet picture of how i want to portray Jesus to Judah. No, i am no Jesus. But raising kids has really helped me to see Jesus as a soft sweet pillow to lean on for which i want to convay to Judah.

I was so proud that i had bulit a relationship with him up to that point that he knew it was ok to say "mommy i don't know what that is". He knew he could look to me and i would come along side him and be his support.

Parenting is so hard sometimes. There are no great rewards everyday for a job well done. But when my 4 year old knows he can lean over and i'll be there to help him, i feel like i may have just done a little something right.

side note: For those of you wondering about a couple posts ago. my ultrasound is scheduled for next week.
