Don't miss the Chance!

So last night i got home from a long day at work.
Exhausted. Tired.

I took my shoes off, exchanged a few words with Jason and then went to change into my pajamas.

I went to watch TV but then realized i wanted to talk to Jason about something so i went in to the kitchen and asked him if he was at a good spot in his Greek homework to talk with me.
He gave me a look as though to say "did you even have to ask if i was busy?".

I persisted to ask him to come to the living room.

"Does this even affect me?" he said.

I shook my head with a hit of laughter and said, please just come and sit down i want to talk with you.

"are you just going to tell me about a conversation i don't care about? Because I'm busy."

"Jason, if you keep talking you are going to feel really bad about what you are saying, so i suggest that you just come and talk with me please."

We exchanged more words and i just looked at him and smiled and said "i would stop talking if i were you."

He kept going...

FINALLY..he stopped and let me have a word in.

I told him the good news i wanted to say.

He felt bad about not wanting to give me his time.
He apologized to me.
I forgave him.

I was pondering this exchange today as i was praying over something Jason told me last night.

How many times is God sitting in the wings of our lives?
Patiently waiting.
Patiently whispering.
Patiently calling our name.
Stirring our heart toward His.

We stand still.
We turn our ear.
We pretend to not feel the tugs on our heart.
We ignore the emotions.
We look busy..

When if we would have just got up, turned our ear toward his voice...

Well, who's to say what would have happened...

Part of me is sad to think of all the things i missed out on because i chose to look busy..
The other part of me is excited, for the next opportunity to run toward the voice...
