Jesus and macaroni Salad

Yesterday was Fathers day. My job was to bring a macaroni salad to Jason's family BBQ. The weekend prior was busy with some girlfriends on Camano Island and i hadn't made it yet come Saturday night. Jason lovingly went to the store to pick up all the ingredients for the salad, and i went to the kitchen to make the salad.

As the kids were in bed and Jason was watching TV or reading or something in the other room, i got a huge wave of the presence of Jesus.

Maybe you think i've crazy and it's something you've never felt before. But stick with me.

You see. For weeks, maybe even a month i have felt disconnected and at a lost. Jason's sabbatical has taken us to different churches each week and it's been a struggle to stay connected to Jesus amidst the broken up sermon series. It's been hard.

So to catch a wave of the presence of Jesus during macaroni salad making basically made my day. Better than anything that happened during the girls night away,  better than the reunion of my husband, a quick wave of Jesus and i felt refreshed.

In the 6 minutes it takes elbow macaroni to become al dente Jesus came.
He came like this:

The anxiety that has been swirling around Jocelyn's attitude subsided. God gave me clear instructions to raise a young woman who had confidence in her decision making skills. And I got example after example of situations in the prior days where i could have done better. And Jesus gave me clear direction on issues i was to let Jocelyn take the lead in making decisions, and also ones i should keep battling.
It. Was. Amazing.

As i started mixing the ingredients i realized all the weight i had been feeling and all the mental battles i'd been trying to fix around how to handle this little 4 year old mini me, it was solved. Cooking macaroni solved my heart ache.

Will there still be more moments where i feel disconnected to Jesus?
Yes
Will there still be more times i make mistakes in parenting?
duh. of course.

But serioulsy. No issue is to small or large to take to Jesus. He wants to do life with us. So refreshing so i thought i would share.

Also. i have the best macaroni salad recipe. Ask and i will share it with you!
